EPF declares a dividend once a year, after its financial year closes and its accounts are audited. It is a return on savings you already hold — separate from the monthly contribution that goes in from your pay.

This is a quick estimator, not a statement. EPF computes the actual amount on a Modified Aggregate Daily Balance (MADB) — the daily balance held in each of your accounts through the year — so a single balance multiplied by a rate will only ever be close.

A worked example
Conventional Savings of RM 20,000.00 held for the whole of 2025 would have earned about RM 1,230.00.
That is the ceiling, not the answer. It assumes the full balance sat in the account for all twelve months. Anything paid in during the year earns for less than a year, and anything withdrawn stops earning on the day it leaves — which is what the advanced mode below is for.

Total savings multiplied by the rate declared for the selected year. This is the ceiling: it assumes the whole balance was held for all twelve months.
Advanced mode
Monthly contributions are treated as starting to earn from month end, and a withdrawal as happening halfway through the selected month. Both are approximations of EPF's daily-balance accrual, not replicas of it.
Declared years only
The year selector offers only years EPF has actually declared. Nothing is projected forward — a dividend cannot be declared until the financial year has closed and the accounts have been audited.
User-supplied rate
The optional rate override replaces the declared rate in the calculation only. It is a scenario input and does not change any rate shown elsewhere on the page.

The official amount must still be matched against i-Akaun or the EPF member statement, because EPF works on the daily balance in each account.

Two different questions get asked about EPF, and they need different tools. Money going IN is the contribution: what is deducted from your pay each month and what your employer adds on top. That is a payroll question, answered on its own page.
Money EARNED on what is already there is the dividend: one rate, declared once a year, applied to the savings across your accounts. That is this page. If your question is about a payslip deduction rather than an annual return, start with the contribution calculator instead.
The EPF dividend is the annual return credited to members from the performance of EPF’s investments. It is declared for a financial year that has already closed, once the accounts for that year have been audited — which is why the announcement always lands in the following calendar year.
EPF declares two rates: one for Conventional Savings and one for Shariah Savings. They are declared together and can differ, because Shariah Savings track the performance of a separate Shariah-compliant portfolio.
EPF does not take your year-end balance and multiply it by the rate. It uses a Modified Aggregate Daily Balance — the balance actually held in each account, day by day, across the year. Money that arrived in December earns for a few days; money that was there in January earns for the full year.
That is why the amount in your statement is usually lower than balance × rate, and why the estimate on this page carries a caveat rather than a guarantee.
The announcement and the crediting are two separate events, days apart, and both dates for the latest declared year are shown above — taken from EPF’s own media release.
The confusion worth naming: the announcement is made in one calendar year but the dividend belongs to the previous financial year. When you go looking for it in i-Akaun, open the statement for the financial year it was declared for, not the current one.
Members still say Account 1 and Account 2, but EPF has since restructured member savings. Savings for members under 55 now sit in Akaun Persaraan (Retirement), Akaun Sejahtera (Wellbeing) and Akaun Fleksibel (Flexible) — Akaun Persaraan being what used to be called Account 1, and Akaun Sejahtera what used to be Account 2. The dividend is credited into each of those accounts on that account’s own accrual. There is no single account that receives all of it.
Conventional Savings carry a guaranteed minimum annual dividend. Shariah Savings carry no guaranteed minimum: the rate follows the actual performance of the Shariah-compliant portfolio, which can be higher or lower than the conventional rate in any given year. The size of that guaranteed floor is stated on EPF’s own page, linked below, and is deliberately not repeated here.
The rate figures for both are in the table above rather than repeated in this text, so there is only one place on the site where an EPF dividend rate is written down. Switching savings type is a one-way election with its own EPF process, and is not something this calculator models.
The i-Akaun app and the i-Akaun (Member) web portal both show the credited amount and let you download the statement. That statement is the official figure; this page is a check against it, not a replacement for it.
If the amount is not visible in the current year’s statement, look at the previous financial year. That is where a newly announced dividend appears.
